If you’ve been feeling out of the loop on the latest cannabis products, you’re not alone. Just when we get familiar with the latest cannabinoid, another one pops up. Although cannabinoids aren’t really new, they are entering the market in new ways. Thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill that legalized the production and sale of industrial hemp, a slew of new products hit the mainstream.
One of the most recent introductions to the hemp market is Delta-10. What is this cannabinoid and how does it feel compared to other variants of THC? Read on to learn all about Delta-10, where to find it, and how it affects your ability to pass a drug test.
Delta-10 tetrahydrocannabinol, also called Delta-10 or D10, is a naturally occurring cannabinoid. It’s not a major player like Delta-9 THC or CBD, but it’s still found in trace amounts in marijuana and hemp. The trouble is, it’s found in such small quantities that it needs to be extracted to obtain enough to infuse into products like vape pens and edibles.
To get the most out of this novel cannabinoid, it’s typically extracted from hemp instead of marijuana which has much more stringent regulations. It’s made by extracting CBD from hemp and then processing the CBD through a lab-guided isomerization. This extra step converts the CBD into D10, allowing for a tangible volume.
Delta-10 THC Effects
Delta-10 is a THC molecule, and it certainly has many of the same properties as Delta-9 THC. We know and love Delta-9 as the primary cannabinoid responsible for getting us high, easing aches and pains, and promoting good times. It’s the dominant cannabinoid in marijuana, and it’s heavily regulated.
Delta-10 is procured from hemp, which is not really associated with getting stoned. However, Delta-10 came to party. While D10 shares similar effects to Delta-9, it’s much more closely related to Delta-8, which is produced in a similar isomerization process. Delta-8 is often described as the indica to Delta-10’s sativa. Although the overall experience is similar (but less potent) than Delta-9, D10 is known to offer a mild, energizing high.
Overall, Delta-10 offers soothing, therapeutic effects like relief from muscular tension, and improved feelings of happiness. It’s also described as introspective and is known to inspire creativity and divergent thinking.
Delta-10 THC Safety
There is little research on the long-term effects of using Delta-10. However, cannabinoids are generally deemed safe to consume but with some guidance. For example, only buy Delta-10 products from a trusted source. What does that mean? The company should be very transparent about all of its ingredients, especially when it comes to testing results.
While not required by law, any reputable cannabis company supplies information from a third-party testing lab to verify that its products are free from contaminants like mold, mildew, and pesticides. In addition, the test results will verify that the product contains the advertised amount of Delta-10.
Delta-10 THC Legalities
Currently, Delta-10 lives in a gray area of legality. If the Delta-10 were sourced from marijuana, then it would only be available for sale and consumption in states with a medical marijuana or adult-use program. However, since most Delta-10 products are made from hemp, they are commercially available to adults over 18. This is because they are protected under the Farm Bill. Still, there are some rules and regulations. For example, the final product must contain less than 0.3% THC.
It’s important to note that not all states allow Delta-10 and have made their own laws prohibiting some hemp-derived products. This includes:
D10 and D9 are incredibly similar in chemical composition but have just enough structural differences to provide different effects on the mind and body. So, they are both psychoactive and intoxicating, but the high is not the same. Many people report that Delta-10 has less impact on headspace, which means that the chance of having a negative experience like paranoia or anxiety is reduced.
Meanwhile, you still get the benefits of some strains of weed, like increased energy and clear thinking. This is what draws people into Delta-10. You can still get high but to a lesser degree. For newcomers to cannabis or those trying it again after finding out that normal weed is too potent, Delta-10 is a great launch pad. It’s also a huge bonus that it can be purchased online.
How much THC is in Delta-10?
It’s not so much about how much THC is in Delta-10, or Delta-9, but rather, how they compare. For example, let’s say you have two vape pens, and each contains a THC extract at 40% potency. If you take a few puffs of the Delta-10 vape pen and monitor its effects and compare it to a few puffs of the Delta-9 vape pen, you are sure to notice that you got much more stoned from the D9 pen.
Since Delta-10 is extracted in a lab, there is plenty of potential for what can be made from the oil. It’s a versatile product and is currently found in vape pens, gummies, tinctures, and other edibles. Surely it will expand into just as many products as CBD as the market continues to increase its demand. For now, it’s made available in traditional and familiar cannabis form factors.
D10 THC Dosing
Everyone reacts to cannabinoids differently. A dose that might be perfect for heading out to a party for one person, might be the right dose for a nap for another person. Finding the right dose for you takes a little patience and practice. If trying D10 edibles, opt for a small dose between 5-10 milligrams to start. Remember to wait at least 90 minutes before increasing the dose. Edibles can take up to two hours to reach their full effect. When smoking or vaping D10, try just a few hits and wait 10 minutes to see how you feel before trying more.
Trying to figure out how long weed stays in your system is a difficult task. It’s not a straightforward question with only one answer and there are tons of factors to consider. For example, how much do you consume and how often? Would you describe yourself as a hydrated, healthy person with a speedy metabolism? What is your body composition like? Yes, these are really personal questions, but they will help you figure out a general guideline for detox time.
Since THC metabolites linger in our body’s fat cells, it’s true that persons with higher body mass index may have a longer time to detox than those with less body fat. Additionally, staying hydrated and eating a clean diet play a big role in healthy cleansing from toxins. The biggest contributing factor is by far consumption. For light, infrequent users you may detox in as little as a week. For daily, chronic users it can take up to 30 days.
The type of drug test matters as well. Urinalysis can detect THC metabolites for up to a month after last use, but blood and saliva tests limit detection to less than a few days. In the unfortunate event of having to submit a hair follicle test, you are looking at 90 days of detection.
Can Delta-10 THC Cause a Failed Drug Test?
Yes, Delta-10 will lead to a failed drug test if you have enough in your system to meet the testing limits. Despite being hemp-derived, D10 is still a THC molecule, and once metabolized it looks exactly the same in your body as Delta-9 would. If you need to stay clean for any kind of drug test, it’s wise to avoid all cannabinoid products.
You can find Delta-10 in most places where you’d buy CBD products. In some locations, this means convenience stores, head and smoke shops, and even some grocery stores. Most people shop online for a wide selection of edibles and vape cartridges. Regardless of where you shop, be sure to check for lab results to make sure you are buying from a trusted source. Dimo Hemp offers a wide selection of Delta-10 vapes worth checking out.
If you prefer a cartridge that screws onto a rechargeable battery, check out Dimo’s Delta-10 carts. Each 1 gram distillate pen is 3rd party tested to ensure product quality. Available in Super Lemon Haze, Runtz, and GG4.
Sometimes you just want the convenience of a disposable vape pen. They come fully charged and ready to go, and after you’ve vaped all of the oil, simply toss the entire pen. Dimo’s D10 disposable vapes are the perfect grab-n-go vape pen and are available in the same great strains as the cartridges.
Delta-10, along with Delta-9 and Delta-8 make for a lovely trio of THC cannabinoids. Each THC variety has its own unique properties, but share family traits. You might find that you enjoy them each for different occasions. If that is the case, definitely check out the full lineup from Dimo and grab something featuring each of the deltas.
If you are ready to explore other novel cannabinoids, check out HHC and THC-O. These are also hemp-derived and available from plenty of online retailers, including Dimo Hemp. Each is slightly different, but with delightful benefits. To have a little fun, try out multiple cannabinoids and keep notes about your experience. Delta-10 is an excellent gateway to cannabis because of its mild effects, and it just might make its way to the top of your favorites list.
